What Happened To The Rana Plaza Factory In Bangladesh?
Bangladesh is considered one of the countries that contribute to fast fashion. Last 2019, there were about 4.62 thousand garment factories tallied in Bangladesh. Most citizens, even women, and children are employed as garment workers in clothing factories. However, a devastating event happened in this country last 2013. The Rana Plaza factory in Dhaka, Bangladesh, collapsed due to engineering and administrative failures. As a result, about 1100 workers were killed, and more than 2500 were wounded. With this, many families lost their loved ones, and this tragic incident will remain in their memories and Bangladesh's history forever. Although, it is devastating to learn that buying new clothes from manufacturers that engage in fast fashion could cost a lot of lives.
