How Can You Help?

Ways To Promote Sustainable Fashion

As we have said earlier, one shouldn’t be guilty that they have engaged in this industry. Most of us are not knowledgeable about the issue, and some are still blinded by its benefits and convenience. However, there are ways to promote sustainable fashion, which one day could possibly change the way we think about fashion and trends. And here they are:

Way #1. Go thrifting

Instead of buying clothes and accessories from manufacturers that utilize cheap materials, why don’t you try thrifting? It can provide you with plenty of choices ranging from vintage to modern, but it has excellent quality. Similar to fast fashion, it is budget-friendly, but the quality lasts forever in your wardrobe. However, thrifting can depend on one’s patience to look through all the racks and boxes inside the store, and if you’re in luck, you might find amazing pieces. Just don’t forget to bring your durable eco-bag to minimize waste!

If you're a beginner in thrifting, check this video by Ashley, aka bestdressed. After watching this, you'll never shop for clothes the same way again.

Way #2. Donate your clothes to organizations or thrift shops

There are plenty of ways to get rid of your used and old clothes without throwing them away. One of these is to donate them to organizations or thrift stores. The organizations will give them to those who need clothing, such as calamity victims, children in the orphanage, and others. This will not only maximize space in your closet, but it can help other people. Moreover, you can donate them to thrift shops, and other shoppers might find your used clothes as a treasure. So, if you’re ever planning to declutter your wardrobe, you might want to consider visiting the nearest thrift shops in your community.

Way #3. Explore your own wardrobe

“I don’t have anything to wear!”

Does this sound familiar to you? Well, that’s what most of us say, even though we have plenty of clothes scattering inside our closets. If you have nothing to wear, shopping for a new outfit is not the only solution. You can try exploring your wardrobe and match tops to bottoms. With this, you can bring out your personality and creativity through your outfits. Also, you can sort and organize your clothes and accessories for easier styling and getting ready in the future.

Way #4. Buy from eco-friendly brands

If most of your clothes are worn out, and you decide to donate them, you can buy new clothes from eco-friendly and local brands. You can check out this list of brands from College Fashion. These products are usually handmade and produced using natural fibers, making them better for the environment. Some examples of these fibers are cotton and bamboo. With new online businesses rising through these times, we’re confident that you can easily shop for both environment and budget-friendly clothing.

Way #5. Learn to sew

You, yourself, are the only person who knows what you truly want and what your style is. So, instead of buying new clothing, you can make your own. However, you need to invest in a sewing machine and other supplies needed, but after a couple of years of practice, you might be shocked by what you have created. Additionally, you might be having trouble finding the right jeans for you in malls and stores, but with this solution, you can make that pants fit you perfectly. Check this video by Coolirpa on what you need to know before starting to sew!
